Find Your Art History Selfie with New App

Now, thanks to Google’s new AR Art Filter, you can put yourself inside a famous painting with just one tap. Thanks to Google’s collaborations with museums around the world, you can put masterworks into the palm of your hand. Try on an Ancient Egyptian necklace! Wear a Samurai helmet!

The feature comes with Google's Arts and Culture app, allowing people to find their doppelganger among thousands of famous artworks. And it’s all thanks to institutions including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Musée d’Orsay, the Royal Ontario Museum, and the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, which own the artworks you can try on. The augmented reality function is just the latest addition to the media giant’s wildly popular cultural arm, Google Arts & Culture, which features a slate of immersive experiences: you can travel to museums around the world from the comfort of your own home, see details of these infamous works and of course, find out which historical portrait looks most like you.
