Satobo

(Hawaii, b. 1958)

My greatest desire is to offer my whole heart, soul, mind and strength to honor and
worship God and to be mightily used to declare his glory through my Pixel Painting.

— Satobo

Satobo is a world-class artist on the cutting edge of a modern photographic movement and era, blending the natural beauty of the earth with a technical mastery that only he possesses. Born Satoshi Matsuyama on May 17, 1958, Satobo is an artist from Kamiisoo-choh Hokkaido, Japan who creates extremely detailed digital images of what he conceives to be “paradise.” His inner visions of Tropical Paradise are inspired by annual visits to Hawaii, where he captures innumerable, ultra high-definition photographs, and then returns to Japan, where he uses software programs to create montages or collages from his images. He then electronically "paints" over these collages. The results are seamless creations of profound beauty - tropically flavored. Because the foundation of his works includes extremely detailed digital images, Satoshi has the ability to make large, highly detailed color prints of his works using a wide professional printer.

Satobo composes his final display by combining up to 300 photographs, some of which are so large and high resolution that they can’t even be viewed on a traditional computer screen. It is imperative that his works be physically viewed across the walls of galleries and homes around the world for all to see. To truly understand the messages from the creator, these works must be viewed with the naked eye.

The innovative artist draws on his love for God as influence for the brilliant images that he creates. Conveyed through the beauty of his art is his dedication to his Faith, as he states, “My greatest desire is to offer my whole heart, soul, mind, and strength to honor and worship God and to be mightily used to declare his glory through my paintings.”
