Jean-Claude Picot

(French, b. 1933)

Jean-Claude Picot has a Post-Impressionist style, with which he employs bright Fauvist colors to enhance the wonder of the landscapes he creates. His brush strokes are wildly expressive as he paints scenes of memorable retreats and leisure. Each piece is bursting with romance and relaxation, balanced with harmonious composition, and spirit raising colors. Picot allows the viewer to take a luxurious escape with every glance.

Born in 1933, Jean-Claude Picot began exhibiting in 1947. He has been the solo exhibitor in over fifty shows around the world. He spends most of his time in places that inspire him, such as the bright light of Cote d’Azur. He is considered an important contributor to 20th century Fauvism, and has earned a place in history as one of the greatest French Landscape painters. He works in a multitude of medias including oil, acrylic, watercolor, etching, ceramic, and serigraphy.
