Ferjo

(Brazilian, b. 1946)

“I always love to paint everything; I think artists should have an open mind, so everything I see in front of me, I paint…”

-       Ferjo

Ferjo’s signature surrealist style creates a unique and impressive body of work that includes tributes to the masters, employed within a dreamscape. His mastery of painting is apparent in his ability to render extraordinarily realistic images. He is perhaps most widely recognized for his “homage” series, in which he depicts iconic paintings in beautifully surreal interiors.

Born in Brazil in 1946, Fernando de Jesus Oliverira realized he had a talent for art when a teacher recognized his unique eye for portraits and landscapes. Several years later he studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts where he focused on cubism influenced landscapes. He additionally experimented with portraiture and realism, proving his versatility as a fine art painter. Upon graduation he received two special honors awards from the Pennsylvania Academy, and was subsequently featured in several galleries internationally. Ferjo’s artwork is filled with symbolism, mystery, and compositions that activate each viewer’s imagination.
